San Lucas is a community in La Mazateca located in the northern and highest part of La Cañada, a region in the state of Oaxaca, which is famous for its coffee. With a cold climate and altitude of 1500-1900 metres above sea level, the coffee harvest here is much later compared to other parts of Mexico. As a result, cherries in La Mazateca take longer to mature, producing very sweet and complex coffees.

Investment from Ensambles (an ethical, Mexican coffee processing & marketing company) has given value to the beautiful coffees and hard-working farmers through the introduction of a specialty-coffee focus. They aim at providing farmers a more hopeful perspective for their crop by paying better prices, and revealing the pathway to higher quality coffees.
