Despite having similar sounding names, these 2 exceptional Costa Rican coffee varietals have very different flavour profiles…

Sarchimor: dark chocolate, fruit cake, dates, stout, black cherry, plus raisin & blueberry as the coffee cools.

Villa Sarchi: brown sugar, almond, medjool dates, walnut, marshmallow, plus molasses, wood oils & sour cherry as the coffee cools.

When combined in a 50/50 blend, the resulting flavours are noticeably different, with only a small similarity to the individual taste profiles…

Sarchimor & Villa Sarchi Blend: fruit cake, toffee, butter, plus green apple & lime as the coffee cools.

elevenses is offering the two varietals for sale separately, or as a blend.

A Little About The Producers… The Hermanos Aguilera (Aguilera Brothers) are 12 siblings who are well known in the West Valley Region of Costa Rica for their incredible coffee. The family has been growing for over 60 years, but emerging in the new world of the specialty coffee in the early 2000s helped them successfully grow their business to what it is today.

For the past 15 years, they have consistently won awards in Costa Rican Cup of Excellence competitions and, as such, their name is highly regarded for their exceptional coffees.

Many thanks to the Aguilera Brothers, and Omwani for allowing me to use their excellent images
